ENVIRONMENT

Environment refers to the surrounding (both living and non-living) of the livings species. The human-beings, plants, animals and other living beings operate in the environment. Environment is also sometimes referred to as habitat Environment consists of both living and non-living things. Living things such as animals, plants, etc. interacts with both other living and non-living things. Similarly, non-living things such as soil, water, climate, temperature, sunlight, air, etc. interacts with other non-living and living things.

An environment includes all the natural resources which surround us to help in number of ways. It provides us better medium to grow and develop. It gives us all things which we need to live our life on this planet. However, our environment also need some help from all of us to get maintained as usual, to nourish our lives forever and to never ruin our lives. The elements of our environment are declining day by day because of the ma made technological disaster. We need to maintain the originality of our environment to continue the life on the earth, the only place where life is possible till now in the whole universe. World Environment Day is a campaign being celebrated for years every year on 5th of June in order to spread the public awareness all over the world towards the environment safety and cleanliness. We must participate in the campaign celebration to know the theme of celebration, to know ways of saving our environment and to get aware about all the bad habits which declining the environment day by day. We can save our environment in very easy manner with the little step taken by every person on the earth. We should reduce the amount of waste, throwing wastes properly to its place only, stop using poly bags, reuse some old things in new ways, repair and use broken things instead of throwing it away, see how much it would take to repair them, use rechargeable batteries or renewable alkaline batteries, make use of fluorescent light, rain water conservation, reduce water wastage, energy con Environment.

There is a close relationship between living organisms and environment. Ecology is the branch of science that studies the interaction between organisms and their environment. The interaction of living beings, including human-beings, brings changes in the environment. Similarly, livings beings also display changes within them with the change in the environment.

Adverse effects of human activity  on environment

Human activity has caused several adverse effects on the Environment.

•The discharge of untreated industrial wastes and other unsafe substances into water bodies has caused water pollution.

•The air has contaminated because of uncontrolled release of harmful industrial and vehicular smokes into the air.

•Our environment also suffers from soil and noise pollution.

•The excessive emission of greenhouse gases has caused an increase in surface temperature of planet earth and ultimately leading to a situation called Global warming.

Save environment

Human-beings and other living creatures depend upon environment and natural surroundings.  We can save our environment by:

•Pollution control laws should be imposed strictly.

•Restriction on the use of fossil fuels should be imposed. In its place, the usage of non-conventional sources of energy should be encouraged.

•Emission of carbon-dioxide and other greenhouse gases should be strictly controlled to save our environment from the threat of Global warming.

World Environment Day

Every year, people and organizations around the world observe 5th of June as the World Environment day. The objective behind celebrating this day is to create awareness among people to take Save Environment.
Why should we save environment?
1. Global warming is a serious environmental issue. The continuous emission of carbon dioxide by thermal power generating units is the leading cause for the surge in greenhouse gases.

2. Natural resources are limited. If the natural resources such as oil, coal, etc. are used, one day the world may fall short of these resources.

3. High-level of environmental pollution is detrimental for human and animal health.4. Forests are fast depleting. It may cause soil erosion and drought situation.

5. Excessive use of pesticides and contamination of soil have negatively affected soil output. These fruits and vegetables are not very healthy for human health.

 How to save environment?

1. We should save drinking water. Water is a precious component of our environment. It should never be wasted.

2. We should never pollute water. Efforts should be made in making significant reduction in both domestic and industrial disposal in water bodies.

3. As far as practicable, the waste products should be recycled to make new items. The domestic and industrial garbage should be segregated as recyclable and non-recyclable before being dumped.

4. There should be a zero tolerance policy towards deforestation. Each one of us can contribute towards saving the environment by planting just one tree every-month.

5. We can make donations to NGOs that are engaged in planting trees, or in any-way working towards saving the environment.

6. Safer environmental friendly car and vehicles should be used. For short distances, people should be encouraged to use bicycle in place of motor based vehicles.

7. The use of environment unfriendly materials such as plastic should be discouraged.

8. Instead of dumping domestic garbage in the pond, lake or river, these should

9.   A lot of environmental problems would disappear if we stop using petroleum, coal and natural gas as raw-materials for power generation. The focus should entirely shift on renewable sources of energy. The use of renewable sources of energy (example solar energy) would help saving the environment from global warming positive actions for the protection of environments

10 Ways to Protect the Environment

Protecting the environment is essential if we want to preserve the flora and fauna of the natural world for future generations. Below are 10 simple ways to conserve the environment. So why not start now?

1. Save water.

Install a water saving device in your taps, toilets and showers. Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth and collect rainwater to water your back yard with instead of using a hose. Simple acts like this can all add up and you can save gallons of water every day.

 2. Go vegan.

Animal agriculture takes up vast swathes of land and emits huge amounts of gases. In addition, animal agriculture is responsible for deforestation as forests are cut down to make room for pastures or for crops for animals to eat. Get your energy from a plant based diet and help to save the environment.

3. Take public transport whenever possible.

Reduce your carbon footprint by taking the train or bus to work – or walking, which is very healthy in addition. You will also save money by not purchasing a gas guzzling car. And, when it comes to air travel, try and limit your carbon emissions by taking the sleeper train instead of shorter distance flights. Plane travel is one of the biggest contributors of greenhouse gases that come from private individuals rather than corporations.

4. Buy responsibly.

Buy items that will last – do not succumb to the culture of ‘fast fashion’ and buy cheap clothing that wears out quickly and ends up in landfill. Look for ethical, vegan companies with a low carbon footprint if possible. Your buying habits can protect the environment!

5. Recycle.

Don’t contribute to the islands of trash floating in our oceans. Recycle and reuse packaging and other waste materials wherever possible to help save the environment. You can even recycle when you are away from home. For example, why not bring your own travel mug to cafes instead of taking away a paper cup which is not always recyclable.

6. Take community action.

Become a conservation activist. Write letters attend demonstrations and educate others about how to save the environment. Let corporations with a poor ecological record know that you will take your custom elsewhere unless they change their ways. People power can really get things done!

 7. Sponsor an animal.

Zoos are home to many endangered animals, and they will often let you sponsor one to help to contribute to its food, shelter and general upkeep. You will usually get a certificate and regular updates when you sponsor an animal, and this can make a wonderful birthday gift as well.

8. Avoid fossil fuels.

Save fuel by insulating your home with double glazing and sealants for cracks. Choose green fuels and power sources such as wind and solar energy instead of fossil fuels like coal which contribute to the greenhouse effect. Making the switch is easier than you might think, and you may be surprised to know that you can use solar energy in the winter, too!

9. Plant trees.

Cultivate wild spaces in your back yard, or engage in community reforestation projects. Even the simple act of planting bee or butterfly friendly plants in your garden can really help to boost populations of these beautiful (yet often struggling) insect populations in your local area.

10. Appreciate the environment.

It is hard to feel motivated to save the environment when we feel disconnected from it. So, take time to appreciate the environment. Go for walks, meditate in a local park or other green space and do a little gardening each weekend. That way, you will realize how much better a gorgeous natural world can make our lives – and this will help to spur you on to take action to conserve the environment for future generations.

It is vital that we all act now if we are to halt global warming and prevent the mass extinction of many of our beloved species of plants and animals. Luckily, there are plenty of things that you can do in order to protect the environment. And, with all of them, you can start right away. So, adapt your travel plans, get out in the garden and start saving water around the home! Why not try and follow all 10 of these guidelines by the end of the year   electricity, etc.
